Hair removal treatment has become much more of the norm nowadays, and means that shaving, waxing, tweezing and hair removal creams have been replaced.
The treatment is safe and effective, resulting in smooth skin and great hair reduction, with one session every 4 – 8 weeks to follow the hair growth cycle, there will be no more ingrown hairs and resulting in no more shaving and smooth skin. The number of treatments vary, although typically six to 8 treatments or more are needed for optimum results.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Light is absorbed by the melanin (the pigment in the hair follicle). The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the cells in the hair follicle, which are responsible for hair growth, without damaging the surrounding cell.
The laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the adjacent area of the skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is covered.
For IPL treatments, a thin layer of gel is applied to the skin to help guide the light.

WHAT IS THE PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE?
It is really important that the following advice is kept for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment:
- Do not sunbathe or use a sunbed
- Avoid any self-tanning products
- Don't wax or have electrolysis
- No bleach or hair removal creams

HOW DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL?
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. No anesthetic is required and most clients describe the discomforts as moderate and tolerable.

WHAT SHALL I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
After treatment, there may be redness or swelling of each hair follicle within the treatment area, which may last up to two hours, or longer.
For 7-10 days after treatment, there will be shedding of the treatment area’s hair growth. There are no restrictions on bathing but we ask you to treat the skin area gently for the first 24 hours.
Please ensure you use sunblock throughout the course of your treatment and avoid sun exposure
Do not use any other hair removal treatments such as waxing, electrolysis or tweezing as this will disturb the hair follicle in the treatment area. You are able to shave as maintenance between treatments.
Avoid using swimming pools, spa or sauna for 24-48 hours as this can irritate the skin.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and raised but this usually subsides within a few hours. Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Only hairs that are actively growing are affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatments are conducted every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area being treated, until a good result is seen. The number of treatments varies, although typically 6 treatments or more are needed for optimum results.
